Don't get me wrong, being way ahead of the curve of this massive paradigmatic shift in human evolution is pretty sweet. But it might be another 100 years before our culture stops sneering at the mere idea of veganism, maybe 200 before they completely take down the curtain separating their stomach and their humanity. It's lonely.

I've only been strictly vegan for about a year, but it's become so central to my identity that I can't actually picture myself being with someone who didn't also love animals (more than their stomach). I have to put up my own curtain between my love & resentment for my omnivore friends & family (& for humanity at large). Hoping that meeting someone else like me would help mitigate that resentment.

Be assured there a variety of other interests that I consider "central to my identity". Though most of them fall under the general header of "music". Like...

-old music. esp old rhythm & blues/soul/motown, all the way from the 30's to the 90's, but the majority of my interest is 1950-ish to 1970-ish. also love rock and roll of the same period. dabble in other genres, even a few modern artists.

-vinyl. obsessed.

-playing music. I used to play piano badly, now I play a uke, um, less badly.

-dancing. love to dance. love to dance with a partner even more. love to be asked to dance most of all. People too self-conscious to dance bore me.

-karaoke. yea I'm a big dork.

Others:

-cooking. love to feed people. often dream of starting a vegan food business.

-cats. have 4. I'm the reason there are "all my children have paws" bumper stickers.

-progressive politics.

I'm not into dating. prefer a pressure-free friend to build trust before it becomes anything for me. some guys have a hard time with that in my exp.

I like to think of myself as considerate, eager to please & do for others, quick to laugh, deeply flawed but self-aware, & self-deprecating but vain enough that I really just want to find someone like me.
