You on the same wavelength? You ever get that ‘Beam me up, Scotty’ feeling? You’re with a bunch of friends, having a good time, when someone raves about bacon, their new 4x4 or some TV talent show. So I came here.

My favourite memories include, as a child, our Alsatian pulling me on a sledge across a frozen lake; and the ‘Little House on the Prairie’ smallholding I used to live at.

Most meaningful achievements? The voluntary legal work I’ve done in public inquiries and parliamentary hearings. Photos and art work for hospitals and charities.

I enjoy most of the usual diversions, including conversation, countryside, music and the arts, travel and discovery, sunrise, improvised cookery, optimism, heritage, rainbows, snow, humous, black chocolate, Radio 4, comedy, Private Eye, The Wonder Years, W B Yeats, beaches, waterfalls, birdsong, nature in general, kites, Appleby Raft Race, Wynndebagge, Walker Gallery in Liverpool, art nouveau, Pre-Raphaelites, Mediaeval Baebes, surrealism, San Sebastian, Snowdonia, getting out on my bike and a big etcetera.
