Late Life Student Single, unattached male, living alone by choice, vegan since 1986, previously lacto-ovo-vegetarian for 20 years.Veganism could be a great white hope for world peace, as teaching a child non-violence towards all fellow sentient beings from earliest infancy could instil a hatred towards warfare. People are the summit of evolution, yet in certain moral and ethical respects, some are less developed than earlier species of the animal kingdom. That said, I do not believe in seeking converts, as it can often have the opposite effect to that intended.

The same applies to religions. While shunning belief systems I am tolerant towards those unable or unwilling to do so, as I was born into one which I came to question and reject, so can understand their mental imprisonment. Despite lack of belief I am a passionate advocate of inter-faith tolerance as a key to ending warfare, and have friends of many faiths and none.

From working as a management trainee in an office I moved to music college to train initially as a pianist and then as a classical singer. I sang some nine principal roles in student and amateur productions of operas but after a short spell in a professional chorus became disenchanted after hearing many colleagues complain that they could not find employment.

Turning to my earlier experience in an office environment I became a self-employed agent for classical musicians, which occupied me for 25 years.

I now do genealogical research for private clients at the same time as studying part time at Cambridge in an effort to combat the natural ageing process of the brain which faces us all.
For physical ageing I attend a gym and enjoy walking, cycling and Scrabble as my only sports.

Interests include people and meeting new friends, travel, all aspects of the quality performing and visual arts but especially classical music, preserved steam railways, steam ships, bridges and science. Watch this space for possible new developments!
